Dear Fellow Old Collegians,

The world is a vastly different place right now because of COVID-19, and no two days are the same as we navigate through these unchartered waters. Who would have thought, at Christmas time, that this was just around the corner?

However, we can be extremely proud of the way in which the College has calmly prepared students for the unique BBC Learning at Home model, as seen on Channel 7's recent news coverage:

The OCA Committee is dealing with this crisis during our centenary year with ‘bounded optimism’, and is re-arranging the 2020 events calendar accordingly.  Unfortunately, the cancellation or postponement of certain events for 2020 has been unavoidable, but our hope is that others will remain on the calendar and will go ahead in a slightly revised format. Please see below for the revised 2020 OCA Calendar. We have been as decisive as we can at this stage, but realise that we may need to revise again at a later date as new information and directives are released.

Please note that the OCA AGM will go ahead on Wednesday 6 May 2020 at 6.00pm via Microsoft Teams. Those members who would like to attend need to reply to oca@bbc.qld.edu.au by Friday 1 May to receive an e-mail invitation to join the AGM.

We all know how important it is to stay connected, especially in rough times. It is great to see that the OC Rowing Club has come up with a great initiative for rowers of all ages to connect, support each other and stay fit during these stressful times – see their article in this newsletter for more info. If you have an idea on ways that Old Collegians can connect with and support each other (social distance compliant, of course) then please contact me on oca@bbc.qld.edu.au.
