Useful Information for all Families to Thrive in 2025

    Download the BBC App

To ensure you receive the latest updates from the College, we encourage all parents and guardians to download the official BBC App, available on both Apple and Android devices.

The app is a convenient way to access Highlands, receive the latest updates, and find important information. To download the app, please find a link here with instructions.

    Student Timetables Now Available

You son's timetable is now available on Highlands. Please ensure he's aware of what subjects he has on the first day so that he knows what resources to bring for his lessons.

    Follow us on social media

For a behind the scenes look, light-hearted moments around the College, and celebratory moments, give us a follow on our main Instagram or our Co-curricular Instagram page.

Head over to LinkedIn for insights into the incredible staff at BBC who all play a part in educating your sons. If you’re into text-based updates, Threads is the place to be – we’ll be sharing more live updates on College activities there this year.

Prefer discovering our pedagogical framework through video? Subscribe to our YouTube channel. And for a mix of everything, find us on Facebook!

Update Your Son’s Emergency Contacts and Medical Details

To help us provide a safe and secure environment for your son to thrive, please take a moment to confirm and/or update your Parent and Student Details on Parent Lounge in Highlands, with particular attention to Emergency Contacts and Medical Details.

To help you update your details, we have prepared instructions, regardless of whether you are viewing via the mobile app or on a desktop, laptop, or tablet.

Have you signed your son up for Co-curricular activities?

The 2025 Co-curricular Sports and Activities selection is now open for Term 1 and Term 2, with signups required by tomorrow, Friday, 24 January. To help parents and guardians in Year 4 to Year 12 who are new to BBC, we’ve prepared a set of instructions to help.

If you have any queries regarding the process, please contact Mrs Fiona Cowan via sportsandactivities@bbc.qld.edu.au or (07) 3721 8777.

Year 7 Outdoor Education Program | What You Need to Know

For our Year 7 parents, to ensure you feel ready to start your journey in the BBC Secondary School, we’ve prepared a few documents which contain useful information for your first few weeks as a Year 7 parent.

If you haven’t already, please visit this post on Highlands which includes an overview of the Outdoor Education Program, a packing list for families, and video instructions on how to pack your son’s backpack for the Program.

College Shop – Trading Hours and Ordering Process for Uniforms

Standard trading hours for the College Shop are Monday to Friday from 7.30am - 3.30pm. The updated online ordering platform is now live for all families here.

If you have any questions regarding College Shop, please contact shop@bbc.qld.edu.au.

New Tuckshop Ordering Process in 2025

The Tuckshop now uses the Flexischools platform for online ordering. All parents and guardians who wish for their son to be able to order from the Tuckshop will need to create a Flexischools account.

Information on how to set up your account has been sent to all parents today via Highlands here.

Join the WhatsApp Group or Facebook Group for Your Year Level

A number of parent Facebook and WhatsApp groups are associated with the College, serving as great places for parents to connect with each other. To join these groups, please visit the Parent Connections page on Highlands to find the links.

These groups are not compulsory to join, and all official communication will be sent via Highlands to families.

Did you know we have a BBC Bus Service?

Brisbane Bus Lines operates the BBC East Bus service exclusively for BBC students each morning and afternoon with stops at Newmarket, Wilston, Clayfield, Hendra, and Ascot.  Information on the route, stops, and bus pass options can be viewed on our website or via Highlands.

School Photos Are Taking Place in Week 2

A new year means new student ID photos and Year Level Group photographs.

Portrait photographs taken in Week 2 will be used for ID cards, and to create virtual Year level group photos for Years 7 to 11 for purchasing later in the year.

    • Tuesday, 4 February – All Secondary School students
    • Thursday, 6 February – All Junior School students

All photographs will happen during school hours. Parents can assist by making sure their sons arrive at school in their complete BBC uniform with a tidy haircut in keeping with College guidelines.

ONLY Year 12 students are required to wear their blazer.

Students in Years 4 to Year 11 SHOULD NOT wear a blazer.

    Master Plan Campus Vision Updates

Our families will be pleased to know that upgrades and refurbishment to multiple areas of the campus were ongoing throughout the school holidays. Improvements to the College currently underway, expected to be complete during Term 1, include:

    • Reception refurbishment - families can expect an improved welcome experience.
    • Boarding House Deck - increasing the number of areas for boarders to connect and build community is an important goal of this additional outdoor eating area.
    • Tuckshop - an exciting transformation of this space, alongside different food options for students.
    • College Cafe - a new eating area on campus, adjoining the Tuckshop.
    • College Hall Forecourt Tiles - entirely new tiling for the College Hall forecourt.

    Wellbeing Centre

Work on our new Wellbeing Centre is well underway. While our original intention was for the site to be ready for use when Term 1 commenced, an unavoidable shortage of certain construction materials has delayed its completion. We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress and subsequent rollout of this important initiative, supported by BBC Parent Connections, whom we thank for their generosity and assistance.
